It has been 80 years since Jesse Owens so bravely and successfully represented the USA in the 1936 World Olympics in Berlin, but his legacy is still as inspiring as it was when he won those four Gold Medals and set those six World Records.  So, to celebrate his major accomplishments, we will be hosting an 80th Anniversary Community Celebration, on Aug. 20, 2016,  in Jesse Owens Park, from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.     The celebration will provide food, games and prizes for all ages, souvenirs and entertainment, all free to the public.
There will also be an opportunity for individuals and businesses to become a part of this historical event by adding your name to the giant Commemorative  Support Banner, which will be on display at the park from June until the end of the 80th Anniversary year, in December.   In addition to showing your support for the legacy of this outstanding athlete, your donation would also guarantee the success of the event.
The Banner drive has begun and will run until the last week in May.  Banner Support Levels are:  Gold ($1000 or more), Silver ($500 or more), Bronze ($100 or more), and Donor ($50 or more).
